Introduction
The silicone composite insulators are composed of three parts: fiberglass epoxy resin lead rod, silicone rubber umbrella skirt, and gold tool. The silicone composite insulator is one of the three types of overhead insulators, the other two being the strain insulator and the suspension insulator. Unlike the others, this insulator is attached directly to the physical support instead of being suspended from the wire. Its shape allows secure connection of the wire and prevents it from drifting. The wire is usually attached to the insulator by wrapping it around the insulator or in other cases securing it in a groove in the insulator.
